NORTH EAST FRAUD FORUM TRAINING PROGRAMME

The programme format was based on six 1-day modules delivered over a six monthly period. All of the training modules were held at Newcastle United Conference & Banqueting, St. James’ Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE1 4ST.

The modules were designed to provide candidates with:
• The skills and knowledge to examine current legislation using case studies.
• The basis for rigorous and ethical approaches to successful investigation and sanction/prosecution.
• A standard basic knowledge of the offences, procedures and laws under which investigations and prosecutions may be undertaken.
• A standard basic knowledge of the processes, which can assist an investigation and the consequences of non-compliance.

Module 1: The Nature of Fraud

Purpose – To introduce candidates to the various permutations of fraud and which agency or institution can help them.

Module 2: Discovery

Purpose – To introduce candidates in techniques to identify and recognise at an early stage the key components of an offence. To appreciate what is required to demonstrate an offence and introduce candidates to the legislation, which covers fraud.

Module 3: Investigation Management

Purpose – To provide the manager with a model to carry out fraud investigations in an ethical and transparent manner.

Module 4: Interviewing Staff & Suspects
