‘Horizons in financial crime: Old techniques, new methods’

In this conference we aim to cover a broad spectrum of the issues and problems we see today in the business and public communities:

  1. Overview of the banking protocol initiative, designed to prevent vulnerable persons becoming a victim of fraud and a summary of Financial Fraud Action UK’s current fraud prevention initiatives.
  2. The bribery legislation, provide a case update and then practical advice on assessing bribery risks and putting safeguards in place.
  3.  A problem solving approach to tackling the wide variety of frauds and how to protect the 5 key enablers: Telephone, Internet, Mobile phones, Doorstep, Letterbox   Also an overview of the #tell2 strategy , a campaign to engage others and spread the protect advice.
  4. A high profile extremely unusual criminal prosecution. The case of the bogus Italian Giovanni Di Stefano was a seven year investigation and resulted in the highest ever sentence handed down in the UK for fraud related matter.
  5. Horizon scanning – the next big risks for businesses and the possible impact of Brexit on fraud and financial crime.
